A meticulous police operation in Ahmedabad culminated in the recovery of Rs 1.5 crore worth of stolen assets and the capture of two seasoned burglars targeting festive vacancies. The heist hit a doctor’s family home in Manekbagh Society, Satellite, between January 11 and 16 during Uttarayan, with the household away.
Cash and jewelry vanished in the raid. Crime Branch mobilized resources, scrutinizing over 200 local CCTV recordings alongside technical trails and tips, zeroing in on suspects Kamlesh ‘Guggu’ Parmar (Chandkheda) and Mehul Parmar (Shahpur), originally from Banaskantha district.
History repeats for Kamlesh, with 10+ theft and trespass cases on record. The bounty includes Rs 45 lakhs in notes, gold valued at Rs 1.01 crore, minor silver at Rs 50,000, and diamond studs. Valued at Rs 1.5 crore total, it’s under BNS charges now.
Further inquiries aim to connect them to other city thefts, as Gujarat police reinforce strategies against holiday crime waves that exploit absent homeowners.
