In the aftermath of the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad, the Gujarat government has declared a day of state mourning in honor of former Chief Minister Vijay Rupani. The state flag will be lowered to half-mast, and official events will be cancelled during this period. Rupani’s funeral is set to take place in Rajkot. DNA testing has been crucial in identifying the deceased, with 86 victims’ remains confirmed so far. The fatal crash of Air India Flight 171, en route to London, claimed the lives of 270 individuals, including the former CM. One passenger survived and is hospitalized. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) is investigating the crash, having recovered the plane’s black box. Air India has been in contact with the families, offering support and assistance.
