The Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner (AI 171) crashed in Ahmedabad on June 12, 2025, claiming the lives of nearly all aboard. The plane was carrying passengers from various countries, including India, the UK, Portugal, and Canada. The DGCA initiated its investigation, potentially issuing notices to the airline. The NSG team has been present, focusing on securing evidence, including the black box. Simultaneously, the Gujarat ATS is investigating, having recovered the DVR from the crash site. Forensic teams are also actively collecting evidence. The black box, housing the Flight Data Recorder (FDR) and Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR), is vital in the investigation. The NIA has stated there is no evidence of foul play in the tragic crash.
