The Indian government has decided to extend the restrictions on its airspace for Pakistani airlines and aircraft, as indicated by a new Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) that is now valid until July 24. This recent extension continues the airspace closure initiated on April 30. The initial NOTAM, in effect from May 1, 2025, to May 23, 2025, was meant to expire on June 23, 2025. The extended restrictions impact all aircraft registered in Pakistan, as well as those operated, owned, or leased by Pakistani airlines and operators, including military flights. The restrictions were imposed in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which claimed 26 lives. Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu confirmed the continuation of the existing policy, highlighting the extension of the NOTAM without any alterations to the current situation. The measures were part of a broader response by India to the terror attack, which included suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, closing the Attari border crossing, and downgrading diplomatic ties with Pakistan.
