Following an incident in Pahalgam on April 22, the registration numbers for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra experienced a decline. However, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed optimism during a press conference at Rajbhawan Srinagar. He stated that despite the initial drop, the numbers are expected to rebound. Before the incident, 2.36 lakh devotees had registered. Post-incident, over 85,000 fresh registrations have been recorded. Last year saw over 5.12 lakh pilgrims. The administration is focusing on enhanced facilities and pilgrim safety. Helicopter services will not be provided this year. The tracks at Baltal and Chandanwari-Pahalgam have been widened to improve accessibility and safety. Permanent hospitals have been set up at Baltal and Nunwan. An RFID-based tracking system has been implemented. Security measures have been reinforced. The Yatra is planned for 44 days, ending on August 15.
