The Amarnath Yatra has been suspended following a landslide and adverse weather conditions in Jammu and Kashmir. A woman pilgrim died, and three others were injured in a landslide in the Rail Pathri area, along the Baltal route, on July 16, 2025. Continuous heavy rainfall prompted the suspension of the Yatra from all base camps, including Jammu, Pahalgam, and Baltal. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and the Yatra is expected to resume once weather conditions improve. The IMD’s red alert signals potential for heavy to very heavy rainfall across Kashmir. Over 247,313 pilgrims visited the holy cave temple in the initial 16 days of the Yatra, which began on July 3, 2025, and is scheduled to end on August 9, 2025.
