West Bengal is fortifying its LPG supply chain against disruptions from escalating Gulf tensions through a freshly issued SOP. Revealed on Thursday, this framework emphasizes vigilant monitoring and rapid response to keep domestic gas needs met.
Central to the plan is the State LPG Control Room at the secretariat, acting as a 24/7 coordination beacon. It will meticulously monitor availability, stocks, and transit, partnering with districts, OMCs, and distributors to eliminate shortages swiftly.
Two round-the-clock helplines stand ready for public assistance, while Chief Secretary Nandini Chakravarty’s committee provides strategic leadership, routinely evaluating and refining supply protocols.
Complementing this, Kolkata Police has heightened citywide vigilance against black marketing, ordering stations to track all LPG flows rigorously in light of regional conflicts. To future-proof operations, police barracks are outfitting with alternative cooking tech like induction units and ovens.
These steps follow Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s emergency dealer summit, where she held the Centre accountable for stretching cylinder bookings to 25 days, a policy she deems responsible for mounting pressures. Rallying against cost increases, she has scheduled a Monday protest march.
In an era of geopolitical flux, West Bengal’s comprehensive SOP, tech upgrades, and enforcement drive underscore a commitment to resilience, ensuring no family goes without cooking fuel amid global uncertainties.
