The severe cyclonic storm Montha has weakened into a cyclonic storm after crossing the Andhra Pradesh coast, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The storm, which brought intense rain and powerful winds to coastal regions, is now moving northwest over land and is projected to further weaken into a deep depression in the coming hours. The IMD stated that the rear sector of the cyclone has already made landfall. Sadly, one woman in the Konaseema district lost her life due to an uprooted tree. The agricultural sector has seen substantial damage, with thousands of hectares of standing and horticultural crops affected. Monitoring continues via Doppler radars in Machilipatnam and Visakhapatnam. Meanwhile, Odisha also experienced heavy rainfall, leading to landslides and property damage in its southern districts.
