In Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, an Indian Army jawan, Kapil Singh, was assaulted at the Bhuni toll plaza, resulting in the arrest of six individuals. Singh, 26, was traveling to Delhi Airport to return to his post in Srinagar when the incident occurred. Video evidence shows toll employees assaulting Singh after he was restrained. The jawan’s father, Krishan Pal, has demanded severe punishment for the perpetrators, describing how his son was prevented from boarding his flight and subjected to violence after his army identification was taken. Kapil Singh’s brother, Pradeep, reported that a group of 10 to 12 people were involved in the attack, beating his brother with rods after seizing his ID and tying him up. The incident prompted a protest by local villagers who vandalized the toll plaza and blocked traffic. Police are investigating and anticipate further arrests. The Indian Army has released a statement strongly denouncing the attack and is cooperating with authorities to ensure those responsible are held accountable. The Army has also contacted NHAI, and is committed to bringing the case to a just resolution.
