After two years in Sitapur Jail, Azam Khan, a prominent figure in the Samajwadi Party, is scheduled for release on Tuesday, September 23. This release is contingent on the Allahabad High Court’s granting of bail in the Quality Bar land grab case in Rampur. The court had reserved its decision on August 21 and ultimately granted bail on September 18. The release order arrived at the jail on Monday, although the exact time of release has been pushed back from the initial 7 am due to pending financial matters. Azam Khan’s son, Adeeb Azam, was present at the jail. Police removed Khan’s supporters from the area. The district jail has become a secure location. The Quality Bar land case involves accusations that Khan, during his tenure as a Cabinet Minister in 2013, misused his position to allocate land to a family member. An FIR was filed in 2019, with further investigation in 2024.
