Development took center stage in Bakhtiarpur as Chief Minister Nitish Kumar rolled up his sleeves on March 7, personally overseeing critical infrastructure projects in Patna district. His on-ground assessments culminated in stern orders for accelerated progress.
The itinerary opened with the two-lane railway overbridge by Bakhtiarpur Engineering College, fusing NH-30 and SH-106 for seamless travel. Officials confirmed a same-month finish, but Kumar wanted it yesterday—envisioning fluid traffic, time savings, and prime access for students and educators.
Education spotlighted next at Ganesh Higher Secondary School’s ambitious five-floor upgrade boasting 45 classrooms. With heartfelt reflections on his formative years there, the CM mandated swift handover. The nearby park at freedom fighter Dumar Singh’s memorial got similar marching orders.
Crowning the tour was the colossal Bakhtiarpur-Tajpur Ganga four-laner: 51.26 km total, featuring a 5.51 km bridge and extensive approach roads from Karjan via Kalyanpur to NH-28. Road Construction chief Pankaj Pal outlined robust momentum toward a 2023 close, yet Kumar pushed for overdrive. This artery will alleviate strain on legacy bridges, bind Bihar’s halves, enhance pilgrimages, studies, healthcare access, and reroute regional traffic efficiently.
Throngs of residents welcomed Kumar effusively, joined by ex-MLA Gyanendra Singh, secretaries Kumar Ravi and Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, highway corp MD Shirsat Kapil Ashok, DM, and SP. The visit amplifies hopes for a resurgent Bihar.
