Shock and sorrow gripped Bihar’s Patna district after a raging fire in Masaurhi claimed two tiny lives on Saturday. In Danada village, a humble thatched hut became the site of unimaginable tragedy around 2:30 PM.
Siblings Priyanshu Kumar (7) and Mansi Kumari (3), children of Vikas Kumar, were trapped as flames engulfed their play area. The family, recently returned from Chachasi village for Aadhaar enrollment, had left them briefly while heading to the fields.
Vikas’s account paints a picture of helplessness: ‘Smoke alerted us, but the fire was too fierce. Clearing the debris revealed our worst fears.’ The children, who had been studying at their aunt’s, were full of life just moments before.
Bhagwanganj police, led by SHO Sujeet Kumar, took charge immediately. ‘Investigation into the fire’s cause is priority. The post-mortem will aid our inquiry,’ he stated. No negligence is suspected yet, but questions linger.
Danada’s residents are united in grief, sharing meals and solace with the family. This loss amplifies concerns over fire hazards in thatched homes across Bihar’s countryside. As probes deepen, the community vows to honor the children by enhancing safety protocols, ensuring no family endures such agony again.
