The Election Commission of Bihar is set to upload the 2003 voter list on its official website. This action is a key component of the ongoing comprehensive revision of the voter list, preceding the assembly elections scheduled for later this year. The decision will enable approximately 4.96 crore voters to easily access and utilize the list during the special intensive revision process. The commission stated that voters who were included in the 2003 revision will not be required to furnish additional proof of birth date or place of birth, if they present the corresponding section of the updated voter list. Conversely, the remaining voters, numbering around 3 crore, will be required to submit one of the 11 designated documents to authenticate their birth information. The primary goal of this intensive revision, as highlighted by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, is to prevent any eligible voter from being excluded and to prevent ineligible individuals from being included in the electoral rolls. Each Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) will play a crucial role in guaranteeing the integrity and accuracy of the voter list during this revision. The state of Bihar has 243 assembly seats and a voter base exceeding 7.89 crore, with the previous intensive revision undertaken in 2003.
