Bihar’s upcoming Assembly elections have ignited a fresh debate surrounding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll. Concerns over discrepancies, such as the inclusion of deceased voters and the exclusion of living residents, are being raised. Tejashwi Yadav, RJD leader and potential CM candidate, has stated his name is not in the draft voter list, despite completing the required enumeration form. This has prompted a response from the Patna district administration, confirming his registration but noting a change in his polling station and serial number. Yadav has expressed suspicions of a deliberate attempt to remove voters. JDU has responded with criticism, calling Yadav’s actions misleading. The Election Commission has countered Yadav’s claims, asserting his name is present in the draft roll at Serial Number 416. The SIR process, designed to ensure an accurate voter list, allows for objections from August 1st to September 1st. The issue is further intensifying the already charged political atmosphere.
