In a recent meeting, the Bihar cabinet approved plans to construct two five-star hotels in Rajgir and a five-star resort in Vaishali. The projects, to be developed through a PPP model, are designed to offer superior accommodation to tourists. The tourism department’s proposal includes the construction of two hotels on 10 acres of land near Mela Maidan in Rajgir, Nalanda district, and a resort on 10 acres at the Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum-cum-Memorial Stupa in Vaishali. These developments will follow the guidelines of the Infrastructure Development Enabling (Amendment) Act, 2023. The land will be leased to private developers. The government anticipates that these new facilities will significantly improve the tourist experience, thereby stimulating the tourism sector. Beyond the hotel and resort projects, the cabinet also decided to increase the value of the State Teacher Award, reduce fees for competitive exams, and approve the holiday schedule for 2026. Other approvals included road construction projects and the celebration of Upendra Nath Verma’s birth anniversary as a state function.
