The Trinamool Congress (TMC) is set to meet with the Election Commission to voice its objections to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar. The TMC delegation will discuss the SIR process and other related issues. The Election Commission officials have explained that the revision is necessary because unqualified individuals have acquired voter identification cards. The opposition parties have voiced concerns that this process may prevent legitimate voters from exercising their right. The Election Commission is planning an intensive review of voter lists in six states, starting with Bihar, to identify and remove illegal immigrants. The upcoming Bihar elections this year and the 2026 assembly elections in five other states are in focus.
