The Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has begun with direct financial assistance to women in Bihar. A total of 75 lakh women each received Rs 10,000, with the total amount disbursed being Rs 7,500 crore. The scheme, a project of the Bihar government, seeks to foster women’s economic independence by encouraging self-employment. It provides financial backing to women, allowing them to start their chosen employment activities. The scheme aims to support one woman from each family in the state. Additional financial support up to Rs. 2 lakh may be available in later phases. Funds can be used for various ventures, including farming, animal care, handicrafts, and small businesses. Training will be provided by community resource persons associated with Self Help Groups. To help sell their products, Gramin Haat-Bazaars will be expanded.
