Political circles in Bihar are abuzz after Upendra Kushwaha, Rashtriya Lok Morcha president, candidly admitted post-meeting with CM Nitish Kumar that he pioneered the proposal for Nishant Kumar’s political initiation. The statement, made to press outside the CM’s home in Patna Saturday, ties into the Rajya Sabha nomination frenzy.
Kushwaha normalized the encounter: ‘Perfectly natural in our NDA partnership. With Nitish ji and I as candidates among five, consultations are constant.’ He emphasized seeking benedictions, rejecting any ulterior motive narratives.
On the CM’s parliamentary shift, he captured the mood: ‘Bihar feels sorrowful. Years of direct leadership created strong bonds; Delhi continuation softens but doesn’t erase the hurt.’ He upheld the choice without critique.
Claiming primacy on Nishant, Kushwaha said, ‘Mine was the first counsel to Nitish ji. JD(U)’s delayed yet correct induction sets a positive trajectory.’ Electorally bullish, he asserted, ‘Five seats, all NDA—undeniable.’
As the alliance’s fifth nominee, current Rajya Sabha incumbent Kushwaha eyes continuity. His prior cross-voting cautions signal vigilance in this pivotal electoral battle.
