In Darbhanga, a notable case has emerged where a judge took immediate action against a lawyer for providing false information in court. The judge ordered the arrest of the lawyer, Amber Imam Hashmi, a well-known figure in the district’s legal circles.
Hashmi was involved in a 32-year-old murder case, where he was one of the accused alongside three others. The hearing was set before ADJ III Suman Kumar Diwakar on Friday. Prior to the proceedings, Hashmi had submitted a form stating he was unavailable due to being out of the district.
The incident took a surprising turn when Hashmi was seen in the same court, arguing a different case. Judge Diwakar, upon seeing Hashmi, who had claimed to be away, questioned his presence and subsequently ordered his arrest. This decision triggered a wave of surprise and activity within the courtroom.
After the judge’s orders, police arrived and took Hashmi into custody. Another lawyer, Sushil Kumar Chaudhary, who was with Hashmi, was also taken to Laheriasarai police station. There were reports of a physical altercation between the police and lawyers, with claims that Chaudhary’s clothes were damaged. Later reports indicated that Chaudhary was released.
