The Supreme Court rejected a petition filed by a woman who had occupied her in-laws’ house in Muzaffarpur, Bihar. The court affirmed the Patna High Court’s ruling, which favored the parents-in-law. The daughter-in-law, named Nancy, was ordered to vacate the premises and move into alternative housing offered by her husband. The dispute arose after the woman illegally occupied the house of her in-laws approximately one and a half years ago. The lower court had initially ruled in favor of the parents-in-law, instructing the daughter-in-law to vacate the property, but she appealed to the High Court and then the Supreme Court, both of which rejected her claims.
