In a move to modernize the agricultural sector, Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister, Vijay Kumar Sinha, launched an AI-driven agricultural radio service. The launch event was held at the media center in the Agriculture Department building in Patna, with the Principal Secretary of the Agriculture Department, Pankaj Kumar, also in attendance.
Deputy CM Vijay Sinha highlighted the transformative potential of combining agriculture and artificial intelligence, stating that it could lead to a new era in agricultural technology. This technology is designed to empower farmers by improving their income and equipping them to navigate challenges related to climate change.
The digital radio service, known as Bihar Krishi Radio, is accessible via the Play Store and App Store. This application is specifically designed to cater to the needs of farmers, with the primary objective of providing them with accurate and timely information. Key features include weather forecasts, crop disease management advice, details on agricultural schemes, market prices, and mandi updates.
The system is distinguished by its AI-driven analytical capabilities, which analyze data related to weather, soil conditions, and market trends, providing instant insights to farmers. The radio service will be accessible in local languages, to enhance understanding. Additionally, it will be available around the clock and offer interactive features, enabling farmers to engage directly with the AI system to get answers to their questions.
The radio service promises substantial benefits for farmers. These include access to timely and precise weather information, which will assist in protecting crops.
