A gruesome murder has been reported from Jehanabad, Bihar, where a senior citizen was killed over a petty financial dispute involving just five rupees. The incident took place in the Koko police station area. The victim, 70-year-old Mousin Alam, was a farmer. The act has caused a wave of anger and shock within the local community.
In response to the murder, outraged residents blocked the National Highway, causing significant traffic disruption. The police intervened to negotiate the removal of the blockade. The main suspect in the murder is a vegetable market agent, Vicky Patel. It is believed that Patel was responsible for the killing of Mousin. Market committee agents are known to collect fees from vendors who sell their produce.
The elderly man was a regular vendor at the market. Numerous others also sold their goods there. On the day of the incident, the elderly man had come to sell vegetables as usual. The market committee agent, Vicky Patel, asked for a 15-rupee fee. The elderly vendor provided 10 rupees, but Patel demanded an additional five rupees.
When the elderly man refused to pay the extra amount, Patel allegedly punched him in the chest. The elderly man collapsed immediately and died at the scene. Patel then fled. The local community’s anger erupted following the death. Protesters placed the deceased’s body on the Jehanabad-Ekangsarai NH-33, setting up a blockade and demonstrating.
The demonstration led to long queues of vehicles on both sides of the road. After approximately 30 minutes, administration officials arrived at the site. They assured the public that the suspect had been identified and would be arrested promptly. Subsequently, the protesters agreed to disperse, and the road blockade was lifted.
