A young visionary from Bihar has stormed the global stage, becoming the first Indian to bag Harvard’s prestigious Phyllis Thayer Streamline Award. Satyam Mishra of Bhagalpur has turned heads worldwide with his dedication to education and women’s rights, rewriting records since the award’s start in 2000.
Harvard’s nod includes not just the honor but a degree and full scholarship, fueling his mission further. Satyam’s portfolio boasts teaching stints in over 20 diverse countries—spanning Nigeria, Ethiopia, Australia, the US, Lebanon, Germany, and more—while nurturing talents in Indian institutions.
His earlier wins, including the 2021 Global Teacher Prize and Fulbright Scholarship, paint a picture of consistent brilliance. Connected through family to Bihar’s leadership via father Ravikant Mishra, a friend of CM Nitish Kumar, the victory has united the community in jubilation.
Reflecting on the win, Satyam called it a ‘historic milestone’ for the nation. His odyssey from Bhagalpur to Harvard exemplifies how grit and purpose can propel ordinary individuals to extraordinary heights, motivating countless dreams across India.
