In Cuttack, Odisha, the Odisha Vigilance team arrested Manoj Kumar Behera, a Revenue Inspector (RI), and Amin Bichitrananda Satpathy, both from Kandarpur Revenue Circle, on Thursday. The arrests were made after they were found allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 12,000. The bribe was solicited from a shop owner near the Kandarpur revenue office. The illicit payment was requested to ensure a positive outcome in a mutation case for converting agricultural land to residential use and for issuing an ROR (Patta). The recovered bribe money is now in the possession of the authorities. Searches are currently underway at three locations associated with Behera and two connected to Satpathy, to determine if they possess assets beyond their legitimate income sources. A case has been registered under Section 7 of the PC (Amendment) Act, 2018, and the investigation is continuing.
