In a major crackdown on illegal alcohol trade, authorities in Gopalganj, Bihar, seized a substantial quantity of liquor before the upcoming assembly elections. A combined team from the police and the Excise Department conducted a raid based on intelligence, resulting in the confiscation of 900 cartons of foreign liquor. The recovery was made at the Balthari check post in the Kucha Kot area. The estimated value of the seized alcohol is around one crore rupees. A trafficker, Dawood Nabi from Murshidabad, was apprehended during the operation. The investigation revealed that the liquor consignment originated in Uttar Pradesh and was destined for Muzaffarpur, Bihar. The driver’s initial claim of carrying cotton was contradicted by the appearance of the truck, prompting a thorough inspection that exposed the hidden liquor stash.
