The incident came to light when Jhumman Yadav recharged his mobile phone using PhonePe on August 2nd. He was shocked to receive a message showing an incredibly large amount of money, comprising 37 digits, had been credited to his account. Initially, his account held only 2,000 rupees, from which he had made a 349-rupee mobile recharge. Upon checking his balance, he was stunned by the extraordinary sum and started investigating its origin. He works as a gatekeeper in a hotel in Chennai and was on leave when the incident occurred. The cyber cell was alerted as the news spread. The account was frozen within two days. In the first day, 100 rupees got deducted from the account. The next day the balance in the account started declining.
