A new Amrit Bharat train service is set to begin soon, connecting Chhapra and Anand Vihar via Gorakhpur. The Northeast Railway administration is actively preparing for the launch. Previously, special trains were operating on this route. Now, the railway plans to introduce the Amrit Bharat service instead.
Reportedly, the railway intends to operate the new train twice a week between Chhapra and Anand Vihar. The Amrit Bharat train’s rakes have already arrived in Chhapra. There’s a possibility that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the train on September 15. This will greatly assist travelers from Gorakhpur to Delhi, offering convenience to residents of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, and improving connectivity between these states and Delhi.
**Proposed Timetable:**
The route and timetable for the new Chhapra-Anand Vihar Amrit Bharat service are nearly finalized, although official details are yet to be released. Final approvals from railway authorities are pending. The proposed schedule suggests the Amrit Bharat train will depart from Chhapra on Mondays and Thursdays at 10 PM, arriving in Gorakhpur at 3:15 AM the following day, traveling through Siwan, Thawe, and Kaptanganj.
From Gorakhpur, the train will depart at 3:25 AM and reach Anand Vihar at 10:10 PM, passing through Aishbagh and Kanpur. Returning, the train will leave Anand Vihar on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 12:20 AM, and reach Gorakhpur at 4:50 PM the next day, passing through Kanpur and Aishbagh. It will arrive in Chhapra at 10:50 PM, going through Kaptanganj and Thawe.
**Current Train Operations:**
Presently, four Amrit Bharat trains already serve Bihar via Gorakhpur. The new Amrit Bharat train numbered 14048/14047 will operate between Delhi and Sitamarhi once a week, starting August 9. The Gomtinagar-Darbhanga weekly Amrit Bharat (5561/15562) has been running since July 26, and the Bapudham Motihari-Anand Vihar Terminal Amrit Bharat Weekly Express (15567/15568) has been in service since July 29.
Additionally, the 15557/15558 Amrit Bharat train runs between Anand Vihar and Darbhanga, passing through Ayodhya and Gorakhpur. The commencement of the new Amrit Bharat service from Chhapra will significantly ease travel for individuals in Chhapra, Siwan, Thawe, and nearby regions of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
