Odisha BJP Gears Up for State President Election: Polling to Conclude by July 1

The Odisha unit of the BJP is preparing to elect its new state president, with the election process officially beginning this weekend. BJP State Election Officer and MP Pratap Sarangi confirmed the news on Saturday. Bihar MP Sanjay Jaiswal has been designated as the observer by the Central Election Officer to supervise and manage the upcoming three-day organizational election, which is slated to conclude by the 1st of July. Following the release of the election notification, Jaiswal will visit Odisha. Sarangi underscored the need for a leader capable of uniting and guiding the party effectively, asserting the BJP’s internal democratic approach. The electoral college voters list will be available on June 29. Nomination filings are scheduled for June 30, with scrutiny and symbol allocation to follow. Voting will occur on July 1, with the results expected to be declared by 12:30 PM. This election is vital for the BJP in Odisha, as it looks to strengthen its organizational capabilities within the state. This process aligns with the BJP’s tradition of conducting organizational elections every three years, which begins locally and progresses to the national level. Elections for local, mandal, and district committees have already been finalized. The party had previously announced the names of the presidents elected across 23 of the 37 organizational districts in January. The state party will be eligible to participate in the election of the national president after the state party president is elected.
