A prominent RJD leader, Rajkumar Rai, was murdered in Patna late Wednesday evening. The shooting took place near Rajendra Nagar Terminal at approximately 10 pm. Police are actively reviewing CCTV footage to identify the perpetrators and are exploring all potential motives. Rai, known for his political engagement and involvement in property transactions, was critically injured in the attack and died while being transported to the hospital.
Patna East SP Parichay Kumar commented on the situation: “A shooting occurred in lane seventeen, near Rajendra Nagar Terminal. The victim has been identified as Rajkumar, also known as Ala Rai. The suspects were caught on CCTV. Other individuals may have been involved. The victim was known for his political activity and involvement in land deals. Therefore, we are thoroughly examining all aspects of the case. Our police teams are fully dedicated to investigating this incident, which happened around 10 PM.”
Preliminary findings indicate that Rai was shot as he approached his residence. Despite attempting to find safety inside a nearby shop, the attackers pursued him and continued firing. A bullet struck the shop’s refrigerator. Police responded swiftly, but Rai was later declared dead at PMCH. Six bullet casings were recovered at the scene.
