Under the auspices of the Bihar government’s governance programs, the Chief Minister Rural Solar Street Light Scheme is underway. This scheme is designed to brighten rural areas while also emphasizing environmental protection and the adoption of modern technology to foster a clean, secure, and self-sufficient rural environment. The BREDA-developed centralized monitoring system is a significant advancement, enabling swift identification and upkeep of malfunctioning lights. This system has enhanced monitoring and operational efficiency. Agencies are responsible for fixing broken lights within three days of notification; delays incur daily fines. However, the third phase has faced difficulties, leading to show-cause notices for 17 agencies for failing to meet deadlines and violating contract terms. According to the Department of Panchayati Raj, agencies must finish the setup and upkeep within 90 days. Furthermore, service stations and resident-accessible WhatsApp numbers are being implemented to improve accessibility and transparency.
