Alert levels rose in Patna as BSDMA convened a strategic tabletop exercise to prime earthquake mock operations in Bihar’s danger zones. Vice Chairman Dr. Uday Kant Mishra steered the meeting, joined by members P.N. Rai, N.K. Singh, Prakash Kumar, and Shambhu Datt Jha.
Expert input came from NDMA consultant Retired Major General Sudhir Bahl, who probed exercise roadmaps, readiness levels, coordination setups, and operational guidelines, proposing refinements for peak efficiency.
Acting as a diagnostic tool before hands-on drills, the platform vetted resources and flagged improvements. Disaster Management’s Joint Secretary Nadeemul Gaffar Siddiqui unpacked flood-derived lessons in a thorough presentation for quake prep.
District reps from Patna, Supaul, Madhubani, Sitamarhi, West Champaran, Darbhanga, East Champaran, Siwan, Saran, Gopalganj, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Sheohar, Samastipur, Araria, Kishanganj, Madhepura, Saharsa, Purnia, Katihar, Munger, Begusarai, and Khagaria drove the conversation. SSB, CRPF, ITBP, CISF, SDRF UP, CoEadM-DMI, and IMD reps ensured comprehensive input.
Focus areas included quake response strategies, supply chains, collaborative protocols, and role delineations. Directives tackled identified risks head-on.
By strengthening ties and protocols, this effort fortifies Bihar against seismic threats. It’s a blueprint for resilience, turning vulnerability into vigilance across the board.
