A dramatic incident unfolded early Saturday morning when a truck collided with the convoy of RJD leader and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav in Vaishali district, near Goraul. The accident occurred while Yadav was en route to Patna after concluding a political event in Madhepura.
The convoy had stopped for a brief break on the Patna-Muzaffarpur highway at approximately 12:30 AM. As Tejashwi Yadav was a few meters away, taking a tea break, a truck veered off course and struck the stationary vehicles carrying his security detail. Thankfully, Yadav’s personal vehicle was not involved, and he was unscathed.
The crash resulted in injuries to three security officials, who were swiftly taken to a nearby hospital. Tejashwi Yadav later visited them to check on their condition and express his concern. The injured personnel are now reported to be stable, though they sustained injuries including bruises and minor fractures.
The truck driver was immediately arrested by local police, and the truck was impounded. An official investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing. Preliminary reports suggest that the driver may have been speeding or fatigued, but the exact cause is still under investigation.
This event has raised fresh questions about the safety of political figures traveling long distances on Bihar’s roads, particularly during the night. RJD activists expressed their gratitude for Yadav’s safety on social media, while others demanded improved road safety measures and better traffic law enforcement.
Party leaders have called for a detailed examination of VIP security protocols concerning road travel, particularly when conditions such as poor visibility are present, and against drivers who disregard traffic laws.
Tejashwi Yadav, known for his active role in politics and extensive travel across Bihar, has returned to his regular activities and has reassured his followers that he is safe.
