In a significant move, Vikas Mitras are set to receive accident insurance benefits similar to government employees. This initiative is part of a corporate package that includes various banking and financial benefits, as decided at a ceremony organized by the Bihar Mahadalit Vikas Mission in Patna.
The event, chaired by Janak Ram, Minister of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Welfare, saw the participation of key officials, including the Secretary of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Welfare Department, the Mission Director of the Bihar Mahadalit Vikas Mission, representatives from the State Bank of India (SBI) and Punjab National Bank (PNB), along with regional and district welfare officers and Vikas Mitras.
The special corporate package, presented by SBI and PNB, will offer a range of benefits such as insurance, healthcare, group life insurance, accident coverage, and financial support for education and marriage for the children of the Vikas Mitras.
A major highlight was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Bihar Mahadalit Vikas Mission and the two banks, which was hailed by attendees as a landmark step for the social and economic security of Vikas Mitras.
Minister Janak Ram praised the initiative as a golden opportunity for Vikas Mitras and acknowledged the continuous efforts of the Bihar government, under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, towards the upliftment of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. He emphasized the crucial role of Vikas Mitras in disseminating government schemes within their communities, and how this package would boost their morale.
