Stories of love often involve extreme measures, and this case from Bhagalpur, Bihar, perfectly illustrates that point. A couple’s love story, captured in a viral video, showcases their determination. After a year-long relationship, they sought marriage, but familial disapproval forced them to run away. Seeking refuge in another village, they were found by the locals, who, in a show of support, orchestrated their wedding.
The villagers first inquired about their situation. The couple affirmed their love and declared their willingness to die if denied marriage. Moved by their plight, the villagers took the initiative to arrange a temple wedding. Following the ceremony, the bride recorded a video, emphasizing the absence of coercion and highlighting her voluntary decision. She further stated that her family, specifically her uncle, would be held accountable if any harm came to her, her husband, or her in-laws.
The incident unfolded within the jurisdiction of the Sanhaula police station. Shivam, from Lodipur Khurd, and his girlfriend from Chhoti Sardho village in the Sabour area, had a year-long relationship. The families’ opposition led to the couple’s elopement. They were later spotted near a hospital in Sanhaula, where they explained their situation to concerned villagers, confirming they were adults and in love.
The villagers subsequently enlisted a priest to conduct a Hindu wedding ceremony at the Baba Bholenath temple. The community fully embraced the roles of both families, managing all the wedding preparations and facilitating blessings from the deities. The bride’s video statement has since gained considerable traction on social media.
