Uttar Pradesh’s push for industrial innovation reaches new heights with the opening of a dedicated Silk Center of Excellence in the state capital. Aimed at fortifying production chains and promoting authentic silk, this facility marks a pivotal chapter in rural economic development.
The inauguration, led by Minister Rakesh Sachan, transforms the Silk Directorate into a vibrant nexus for holistic silk ecosystem support. Envisaged as a unified center, it integrates manufacturing insights, skill-building, quality verification, and commercial outreach.
Explore the ‘soil to silk’ journey through sequential displays: from mulberry nurseries and tree plantations to silkworm farming, cocoon extraction, thread winding, and apparel design. Crucially, it arms consumers against adulterated goods, fostering trust in pure silk products.
Functioning as an expo hall, training academy, and retail hub, it channels benefits straight to weavers, farmers, and cooperatives via on-site vending. Once idle, the premises now symbolize renewal, offering immersive lessons in Eri, Mulberry, and Tussar silk for visitors worldwide.
Backed by CM Yogi’s strategic focus since 2022, annual output has climbed to 300-350 metric tons. Enhanced farmer training, financial incentives, technical expertise, and market linkages propel sustained expansion.
In essence, this center bridges tradition and tomorrow, empowering communities while elevating Uttar Pradesh’s silk stature on national and global canvases.
