Navratri, the festival of worship of Maa Shakti, commences today. New GST rates are being implemented nationwide starting today. This will lead to a reduction in prices for numerous goods. The country will now operate under two tax slabs (5% and 18%). Harmful substances like alcohol and tobacco will be taxed at 40%. PM Modi addressed the nation on Sunday before the introduction of the new GST rates, highlighting GST reforms and the importance of indigenous products. He mentioned that with the new rates, 99% of goods will be taxed at just 5%. The BJP will launch a nationwide GST savings campaign from September 22nd to September 29th. BJP MPs will conduct padyatras (foot marches) in their areas. Furthermore, PM Modi is scheduled to visit Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura today.
