In a significant acknowledgment, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah lauded officials from Chhattisgarh for their contributions to the success of recent anti-Naxal operations during a meeting in New Delhi. He extended his congratulations on the historic achievements and reiterated the government’s resolve to eradicate Naxalism. Chhattisgarh’s Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma attended the meeting.
Sharing his thoughts on X, the Home Minister wrote, “I had the pleasure of meeting with the officers who played a key role in the recent anti-Naxal operations and congratulated them on the historic success of these operations. I am also looking forward to meeting the brave soldiers who ensured the success of these operations and will soon visit Chhattisgarh to meet them. The Modi government is committed to freeing India from the menace of Naxalism.”
The operations, conducted under the guidance of the Union Home and Cooperation Minister, saw the Chhattisgarh Police, including DRG forces from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Kondagaon, and Bijapur districts, engage in intensive anti-Maoist activities. A major encounter on May 21, 2025, in the forests of village Boter in the Abujhmar area, resulted in the death of 27 Naxals, including CPI (Maoist) General Secretary Basavaraju alias Gaganna, and the recovery of substantial arms and ammunition.
Officials recognized included Chhattisgarh’s Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Additional Director General of Police Vivekanand, IG of Bastar Range Sundarraj, SPs Prabhat Kumar (Narayanpur), Jitendra Yadav (Bijapur), and Shalabh Singh (Bastar). Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, and other senior officials were also in attendance as Amit Shah presented the honors.
