A senior police officer, ASP Akash Rao Giripunje, was killed in an IED explosion in Sukma district, Chhattisgarh. Several other police personnel sustained injuries in the blast, which took place near Dondra village on Monday. The incident occurred during a patrol conducted in response to a bandh called by CPI(M) on June 10. The injured were rushed to Konta Hospital. ASP Giripunje was on patrol to prevent any Naxalite incidents. Deputy CM Vijay Shamra lamented the loss of ASP Giripunje, calling him a courageous officer and a recipient of bravery awards. Following the blast, search operations were immediately initiated. This attack underscores the persistent threat faced by security forces in the region.
