Collector Mishra detailed the significance and utility of helmets for two-wheeler riders during the meeting, explaining that serious head injuries are the leading cause of death in road accidents. She attributed this to the lack of helmet usage by riders, emphasizing the collective responsibility to encourage helmet use. She stated that even if strict measures are needed, they would be taken. Mishra believes that by ensuring helmet use among two-wheeler riders, the rate of fatalities in road accidents can be significantly reduced. Consequently, the district administration and police are implementing strict measures to mandate helmet usage for all two-wheeler riders. Furthermore, Collector Mishra instructed two-wheeler vendors to provide helmets with every two-wheeler sold. She also directed all petrol pump operators to coordinate with the transport department to establish shops for ISI-marked helmets near petrol pumps. She also instructed the District Transport Officer to ensure the necessary arrangements are made promptly.
