A planned Naxal attack in Bijapur was averted due to the vigilance of security forces. On Saturday, while conducting a demining operation on the Gorna-Mankeli road, security forces recovered a powerful 10 kg command IED and neutralized it immediately. This incident followed the brutal murder of a young man by Naxals in the same village the previous day, leaving the area in a state of terror. The Naxals had intended to target security personnel by planting explosives on the road, but their scheme was unsuccessful. The demining operation was a collaborative effort involving DRG Bijapur, the Bijapur police station, and the BDS team. During the search, a suspicious electric wire was spotted, prompting a thorough search of the area. The search revealed the IED, concealed in a steel tiffin box and linked to an electric wire extending 70-80 meters. The BDS team expertly and cautiously defused the explosive, and a video documenting the process has been released. Authorities stated that the Naxals’ aim was to harm both security forces and civilians. The prompt action of the security forces prevented a significant disaster, thus dismantling the Naxal’s malicious intentions.
