Shivam Mishra, Raipur. Central Finance Commission Chairman Arvind Panagariya held a press conference in Raipur. He said, Central Finance Commission will visit 28 states. The Commission will consider the requirements of the entire country. Chhattisgarh is the second stop of the Finance Commission. Internal discussions are going on in the states. The Commission is also going to discuss with different public representatives. Suggestions will also be taken from them. Recommendations will be taken on central tax of different states. Recommendations will also be taken on disaster relief fund including urban and rural areas. The state government has presented its problems before us.
On meeting the cabinet, the commission’s chairman Panagariya said, information about the projects related to Chhattisgarh has been given. Chhattisgarh has shown good progress. Be it in any field. There has been a discussion on how to increase rail, road and air connectivity. If Chhattisgarh is a producing state, how will it be compensated, what should be the formula of the Central Finance Commission, what should be done for population, density and ST SC population, there have also been discussions on these.
In the meeting, on the discussion related to tax in the states, the Finance Commission Chairman said, the vertical divisible pool of central tax is divided among 41% states. There is a demand to increase 41% to 50%. The progress report has been presented since the formation of the state. On the report of development in CG after the grant of the 15th Finance Commission, he said, the plan of the 15th Finance Commission has been discussed. The state government has presented the complete report since the formation of CG till now before the commission.
On the monitoring of the grants given to the state government, Panagariya said, after the grants are given, the central government does the monitoring. One grant has been given to the panchayats. One grant has been given to the urban bodies. The third grant was given for disaster. The state government has submitted the details so far. The commission will present it in the secretariat.
