Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district witnessed a large-scale surrender today, with 50 Naxal insurgents, including 32 women, choosing to abandon their armed struggle. The surrendered cadres presented 39 firearms to the Border Security Force personnel at the Kamtera camp. This mass surrender is a notable success for counter-insurgency operations, significantly weakening the Naxal presence in the Maad area. The group included prominent figures such as five DVCM-rank leaders and 21 ACM-level operatives. Authorities are hopeful this will lead to more surrenders, with an estimated 120 individuals expected to lay down arms in Bijapur by Thursday. Security agencies are actively promoting community outreach programs to facilitate the reintegration of former cadres.
