The Chhattisgarh government’s counter-insurgency efforts are yielding results as 71 Naxals surrendered in Dantewada district. This includes 30 Naxals who had a combined reward of 64 lakhs on their heads. The surrender took place in front of Dantewada SP Gaurav Roy and CRPF officials.
The surrender is seen as a significant victory for the security forces, who have been conducting relentless search operations in Naxal-affected areas. The government’s rehabilitation policies, particularly the Loan Varraatu campaign, are also credited with encouraging the Naxals to lay down their arms and join the mainstream.
These surrendered Naxals were reportedly involved in various incidents. The district administration plans to provide skill development training and essential items to aid their reintegration into society.
Among the 71 who surrendered were 21 women. The authorities stated that the ongoing operations and the government’s outreach programs have created an environment where Naxals are choosing to give up violence. The SP of Dantewada, Gaurav Rai, confirmed that the surrender was a result of the ‘Rehabilitation to Rebirth’ and Loan Varraatu campaigns.
