In a tragic incident, ASP Akash Rao Giripunje lost his life in an IED blast triggered by Naxalites in Sukma district, Chhattisgarh. The blast occurred near Dondra village while police personnel were on patrol, responding to a call for a bandh. Several other police officers sustained injuries and were immediately taken to a hospital in Konta. The attack took place between 9 and 10 am. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Shamra expressed his grief, calling ASP Giripunje a brave officer and a recipient of gallantry awards. This incident highlights the continued Naxal threat and the challenges faced by security forces in the area.
