In a tragic incident, ASP Akash Rao Giripunje lost his life in an IED blast orchestrated by Naxalites in the Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. The blast occurred near Dondra village while police were on patrol, responding to a bandh called by Maoists. Several other police officers were injured in the explosion and were immediately rushed to a hospital in Konta for medical attention. The ASP succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Shamra conveyed his condolences, remembering the officer’s bravery and valor. This attack is a grim reminder of the persistent Naxal threat and the risks faced by security forces in the region. Search operations have been initiated in the area.
