A major anti-Naxal operation in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district has resulted in the neutralization of six Maoists. The fierce encounter occurred around 10 am in the dense forests of Indravati National Park, following specific intelligence about the movement of senior Maoist figures. A coordinated team, comprising the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Special Task Force (STF) from Bijapur and Dantewada, launched the operation. The security personnel faced heavy resistance, leading to a prolonged gunfight that lasted for hours. After the firing subsided, a thorough search of the area led to the discovery of six bodies belonging to the Naxalites. They were found in possession of sophisticated automatic weapons and explosives. Reinforcements from various units, including the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), were dispatched to establish a cordon and prevent the escape of other militants. The Chief Minister praised the security forces for their valor and reiterated the government’s commitment to a Naxal-free state. This development contributes significantly to the ongoing campaign against Maoist activities in the region.
