Chhattisgarh is experiencing a renewed surge in monsoon activity, characterized by thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy rainfall. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for 14 districts, including Raipur, Dhamtari, Bilaspur, Balrampur, Surajpur, Jashpur, Mahasamund, and Gariaband, warning of heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. Residents in these areas are advised to exercise caution. The IMD forecasts a weakening of the monsoon in South Chhattisgarh, with normal weather conditions expected. However, North Chhattisgarh can anticipate light to moderate rainfall over the next five days. Raipur has been witnessing cloudy skies and intermittent drizzle since Thursday morning, leading to a drop in temperature. The districts of Raipur, Bilaspur, Ambikapur, Jagdalpur, and Durg recorded the following maximum and minimum temperatures in the last 24 hours: Raipur – maximum 28.7°C, minimum 24.6°C; Bilaspur – maximum 28.8°C, minimum 25.2°C; Ambikapur – maximum 29.1°C, minimum 23.4°C; Jagdalpur – maximum 27.6°C, minimum 23.0°C; Durg – maximum 31.6°C, minimum 19.2°C. Since June 1st to August 20th, Chhattisgarh has recorded 787.7 mm of rainfall. Balrampur received the highest rainfall at 1145.3 mm, while Bemetara received the lowest at 390.6 mm.
