In a significant boost to counter-insurgency efforts, Chhattisgarh’s security forces have achieved major successes against Naxalites in Gariaband and Narayanpur districts. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai commended the CRPF Cobra commandos, Chhattisgarh Police, and DRG for their exemplary work. In Gariaband, an encounter led to the death of 10 Naxalites, including Modem Balakrishna, a central committee member with a reward of 1 crore. This represents a major milestone in the state’s efforts to eliminate Naxalism. In Narayanpur, 16 Naxalites surrendered to authorities, including members of the Janataana Sarkar, Panchayat Militia Deputy Commanders, Panchayat Government members, and Justice Branch heads. This surrender underscores the declining influence of Naxal ideology and the growing acceptance of mainstream society. Chief Minister Sai expressed his belief in achieving a ‘Naxal-free India’ by March 2026, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
