In a significant development in the Rs 2100 crore Chhattisgarh liquor scam, the EOW presented a charge sheet in court. The investigation centers around allegations of selling liquor using fake holograms during the Congress government’s tenure. Court notices have been issued to 28 excise officials, including one whose wife is an IAS officer. These officials are required to appear in court today. The charge sheet follows thorough investigations and interrogations by the EOW and ACB. The excise department sent a proposal for prosecution approval on April 18, which was approved on May 20. With the Chief Minister’s approval now secured, the supplementary charge sheet is being filed. The filing of the charge sheet marks a major step in the judicial proceedings, and the court will decide the future course of action. The case is anticipated to draw responses from political circles.
