A tragic event unfolded in Sarwani village, under the jurisdiction of Chakarbhatha police station in Bilaspur, where a son murdered his mother. The son, identified as 38-year-old Vishnu Kewat, was deeply troubled by the persistent illnesses affecting his children. His search for a cure led him to a shaman, who asserted that the children were cursed by witchcraft, allegedly performed by a member of their own family. The shaman identified Vishnu’s mother, Mantora Bai Kewat, as the perpetrator. Driven by the shaman’s pronouncements, Vishnu confronted his mother, and upon her denial of the accusations, he violently attacked her with an axe, resulting in her death. Vishnu later surrendered himself to the Chakarbhatha police station, admitting to the murder. The police have begun an investigation, sending the deceased for a post-mortem and registering a murder case against the suspect.
